“Likewise must the deacons be grave, not double-tongue, not given too much wine, not
greedy of filthy lucre; Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience. And let
these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless.
Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things. Let the
deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.
For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree,
and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.”
(1 Timothy 3:8-13)
Functions
Preside, lead and encourage the church leadership to function according to scriptural mandates. To support the pastor’s/church’s vision, and assist in its fulfillment. The Deacons Ministry is a ministry of the church made up of a group of men selected by the pastor and especially ordained to:
• Resolve problems in the membership and,
• Release the pastors for ministry service. This is done by assisting the pastors and church in many of the church’s physical needs, which affords them more time for prayer and the study of God’s Word (Acts 6).
The deacons, functioning under the direction of the senior pastor, are spiritual leaders who have a good report, are spirit-filled, and wise. Deacons serve as primary leaders in the church’s Care Cell Ministry.
Care Cell Ministry
The support and visitation ministry of the church (Exodus 18:13-26). There are different cells (groups or divisions), designed to ensure that every need of the membership is met (Galatians 6:10). Each member, upon uniting, is placed into a cell with a deacon leader who will contact them periodically to ensure fellowship and well-being. HOFCC’s Care Cell Ministry makes the following commitments to every member:
(1) to pray for you regularly,
(2) to contact you on a regular basis,
(3) to be available to you whenever/wherever possible, and
(4) to provide a Christian example. Monthly Home Bible Studies are forthcoming.
Every member is a part of the Care Cell Ministry. Your participation is vital to its operation.

Armor-Bearers Ministry
“And Jonathan said to the young man that bare his armour, Come, and let us
go over unto the garrison of these uncircumcised: it may be that the Lord will work
for us: for there is no restraint to the Lord to save by many or by few. And his
armourbearer said unto him, Do all that is in thine heart: turn thee; behold,
I am with thee according to thy heart.” (1 Samuel 14:6-7)

Succour Ministry
(Pastor’s Aide)
“Moreover the Philistines had yet war again with Israel; and David went down, and his
servants with him, and fought against the Philistines: and David waxed faint. And
Ishbi-benob, which was of the sons of the giant, the weight of whose spear weighed three hundred shekels of brass in weight, he being girded with a new sword, thought to have slain David. But Abishai the son of Zeruiah succoured (literally, “came to his aid”) him, and smote the Philistine, and killed him. Then the men of David sware unto him, saying, Thou shalt go no more out with us to battle, that thou quench not the light of Israel. (2 Samuel 21:15-17)
